Today marks the first day of the sixth Famous Fabulously, Fantastically Fun Fall Fornelli Frightfest! I’ve waited all year for this, so without further ado, let’s get to the review.
October 1: The Taking of Deborah Logan. Rating: 3/5. Comment: “Found Footage” is a particularly creepy (though predictable and overdone) genre in which the viewer is made to believe that a documentary or home video is filmed and presented as truth. A possessed woman, thought to be in the throes of a degenerative disease, is forced to complete the life’s work of a madman who was murdered. In truth, I would have given this a 3.5 if I could have, but unfortunately, I must abide by the rules of the rating system (that I created). I really enjoyed this movie (and was prepared to give it 4 stars), for the first hour and a half or so. Sadly, as the film dragged on, the point tally ticked down. Definitely worth a watch, as the acting was spot on, the plot was believable, and the ending was satisfying. Keep in mind that you will probably want to fast-forward at points, and rest easy in the knowledge that I was likely thinking the same thing at the same time.
Peace and love.
