Throughout, historians and film critics explain the growing popularity of the scary movie by linking important world events to societal shifts. In describing the changing concerns and pleasures of the American culture during different periods, the creators of this film seek to justify swings in the themes and appearance of the genre: the original empathetic monster, the thrill-seeking violent slasher, the insane serial killer, the unstoppable phantasm. This was a great way to kick off the Fornelli Fantastically Fabulous and Fun Fall Frightfest!
